2026 KSCA Fall Virtual Conference (13 Nov 2026)

KSCA Fall Virtual Conference

Join the Kansas School Counselor Association for our Fall Virtual Conference, featuring a dynamic lineup of professional learning, practical strategies, current updates, and recognition of the outstanding work of Kansas school counselors.

From Busy to Comprehensive

Keynote Speaker: Matthew Berry

School counselors are busy—but is all that activity creating the impact students need?

In this fast-paced, interactive keynote, participants will explore how to move from simply doing school counseling activities to intentionally designing a comprehensive school counseling program. Using a practical Define, Design, Deliver, and Assess framework, counselors will examine how student needs, data, standards, tiered supports, and outcomes work together to create a purposeful program.

Participants will reflect on their current practices, identify strengths and gaps, and consider how to shift the conversation from “What did we do?” to “What changed for students?” Attendees will leave with practical strategies and a clear next step for strengthening a comprehensive, data-informed school counseling program that ensures every student has access to meaningful support.

Participants will be able to:

Differentiate between counselor-centered activities and a comprehensive, program-centered approach to school counseling.

Apply the Define-Design-Deliver-Assess framework to strengthen alignment among student needs, standards, services, and desired outcomes.

Identify one actionable “next play” to improve their comprehensive school counseling program through intentional programming, data use, or outcome measurement.

Kansas School Mental Health Updates

Presenter: Trish Backman, Kansas State Department of Education

Stay current with important updates from the Kansas State Department of Education. Trish Backman will provide an update focused on school mental health, highlighting information and developments relevant to Kansas school counselors and the students, families, and communities they serve.

Fall KSCA Awards Recognition

We will also take time to celebrate the Fall KSCA Award recipients and recognize the individuals who are making a meaningful difference in school counseling across Kansas. This special recognition provides an opportunity for our profession to celebrate excellence, leadership, service, and the positive impact of school counselors.

A Day of Learning, Connection, and Celebration

Whether you are looking to strengthen your comprehensive school counseling program, refresh your understanding of ethical practice, stay informed about Kansas school mental health initiatives, or celebrate colleagues across the state, the KSCA Fall Virtual Conference will provide meaningful professional learning and practical ideas you can take back to your school.
